Affiliate FAQ

What is a fantasysportslive.com affiliate?

An affiliate is someone who helps market our website by promoting it and getting new players to sign up. Affiliates are valuable to us and we pay them up to 35% of the revenue their players generate. With this arrangement we only keep around 65% of the player revenue while still having to pay the all the expenses of developing and maintaining our world class website. It is a great way to make money from our site at no risk.

Can anyone be a fantasysportslive.com affiliate?

If you are at least 18 years of age, and currently have an FSL account you are eligible to become an affiliate.

How do I make money as an affiliate?

You earn a percentage of the net lifetime revenue from each new player you sign-up. You can earn up to 20 – 35% of the monthly revenue generated by each of your players. As a promotion around the launch of FSL all affiliates will earn 32% of their player's revenue (less promotional expenses) through the end of 2007. Player revenue is the money FSL earns when we run a contest. Revenue from a contest is equal to the total fees collected less total prizes paid. Per player revenue is simply the contest revenue divided by the number of entries. For example, if your player entered a 10 player, $20 entry fee contest with $180 in prizes, the contest revenue would be $200-180 = $20. Per player revenue would be $2, and you would be eligible for 32% of the $2 or $0.64 on that entry. Below shows what the rates will be for 2007 and 2008.

2009-2010 Affiliate Rates

  • Player monthly revenue less promo expense of $1 - $2,500: 20%
  • Player monthly revenue less promo expense of $2,501 - $5000: 25%
  • Player monthly revenue less promo expense of $5001 - $10,000: 30%
  • Player monthly revenue less promo expense of $10,001+: 35%

2011 Affiliate rates

  • TBD, but in the 20 to 35% range

What is promotional expense?

Promotional expense, is what we pay to help you get your sign-ups and to keep your players active on our web site. Since we are paying you what amounts to the entire marketing budget for your player, these expenses are deducted from your player's revenue before we calculate your monthly payment. Examples of promotional expense are instant deposit bonuses and reload bonuses that go directly to your player.

How is player revenue less promotional expense calculated?

A player's revenue less promotional expense for a month equals the player revenue earned minus any instant deposit received, bonuses paid, credits, charge backs, or costs directly attributable to the player during the month. Negative balances in player revenue less promotional expense are carried forward to the next month.

When do I find out how my affiliate business is doing?

We will provide a monthly report on affiliate activity and earnings via email. As we increase the functionality of our website, you will be able to check your affiliate status at anytime.

How and when do I receive my money?

Prior to the 15th of the month you will receive payment for the previous months affiliate activity. Payment will be deposited into your FSL account.

Do you have any banners I can use on my site to attract players?

We have a few banners to choose from to help you drive player to our site. You will get credit for the players who click through and open an account while on our site.

What is a bonus code?

A bonus code is a unique code that we use to track your players. You can choose a bonus code that is up to 15 characters or numbers. A code might look like "SoxFan" or "InstaBonus" depending on how you are marketing to your potential players. Bonus codes are not case sensitive.

Where do my players enter their bonus codes?

When they sign-up for an account, there is a clearly marked field where the player can enter the bonus code. As soon as they enter your bonus code and open an account, they are tagged to your affiliate account. Please note, if a player arrives from your affiliate tracking URL or website link, then the bonus code field will be grayed out since the player is already tracked to your affiliate account. If the player doesn't arrive from a tracking URL or website, then you will only get credit for that player if they enter your bonus code when creating an account. Make sure to give them a reason to enter your bonus code, like the higher instant deposit bonus that they will earn with their first deposit.

How do I get my codes and banners?

You are allowed one bonus code to be used for print, web, and word of mouth advertising. Your personal code is selected during affiliate sign-up. If the code is unique, you will be allowed to use it, otherwise you must select a different bonus code. You will also be given a unique affiliate code that will track your sign-ups via click through on FSL banners. Banners will be emailed out once your affiliate account is created.

What bonuses can I offer my potential sign-ups?

FSL will be running a promotion at launch and through much of 2007 that will offer a free $10 instant deposit bonus on a $100 initial deposit. The $10 bonus can be used to try out any contest with a $10 entry fee or less at no risk. The only restriction is the $10 bonus must be used prior to a withdrawal or it will be forfeited. As an affiliate you will be able to offer a $10 instant bonus with a $50 initial deposit, a $20 instant bonus with a $100 initial deposit, or a $30 instant bonus with a $200 initial deposit. Players will get this better deal when they use your bonus code or click through from your website and sign up for an account. This is a good way to make sure that they will use your bonus code. The initial deposit bonuses are only valid on initial deposits. We may offer reload bonuses from time to time to help your existing players build up their account balances.

What if I don't have a website?

No problem. There are many ways to promote FSL offline. You can distribute business cards, post fliers, or use word of mouth. We can provide you with logos for printed materials, and example promotional cards. Just make sure your players use your bonus code when signing up for a FSL account.
